Privacy Policy
Laundry Care Symbol · Last updated: 14 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Laundry Care Symbol mobile app
("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. We are committed to
protecting your privacy and collecting as little data as possible.
1. Information the App Processes
- Camera images. When you scan a laundry care label, the photo you
capture is sent to our processing service to recognise the symbols on the label. Images
are transmitted securely (HTTPS), used only to return a recognition result, and are
not stored by us after processing. We do not use your photos to identify you.
- On-device settings. Your app preferences (such as language and whether
you have purchased the ad-free upgrade) are stored locally on your device only and are not
transmitted to us.
- Advertising identifiers. If you consent, our advertising partner
(Google AdMob) may access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS) to deliver and
measure personalised ads. On iOS you are asked for permission through Apple's App Tracking
Transparency prompt, and in the EEA/UK through a consent (UMP) form. If you decline, you will
still see non-personalised ads (unless you purchase the ad-free upgrade).
- Diagnostic data. Basic crash and error information may be processed to
keep the App stable. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, or precise location.
2. How Information Is Used
- To recognise laundry care symbols from the photos you scan.
- To display advertising and, with your consent, to personalise and measure it.
- To remember your settings and ad-free purchase on your device.
- To diagnose problems and improve the App's reliability.
3. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following service providers, who process data on our behalf or
under their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob (advertising) —
Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini API, accessed through our own secure proxy, is used to
recognise the symbols in the photos you scan —
Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare hosts the secure proxy that forwards scan requests.
4. Tracking
With your permission, the advertising identifier may be used to track you across apps and
websites owned by other companies for the purpose of third-party advertising. You can change
this at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security →
Tracking) and through the in-app privacy options.
5. In-App Purchases
Purchases (such as the ad-free upgrade) are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation that
a purchase was made but do not receive your payment card details.
6. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from children.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to
access, correct, or delete personal data, and to withdraw consent for advertising tracking.
Because the App does not maintain an account or store personal data on our servers, most data
remains on your device or with the third-party providers listed above. To exercise any right,
contact us at the address below.
8. Data Retention
Scanned photos are processed transiently and are not retained after a recognition result is
returned. On-device settings remain until you delete the App or clear its data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by
the "Last updated" date above.
